As anyone with an ink printer knows, new cartridges cost an arm and a leg. So what many people do is visit their friendly ink cartridge shop for a recycled and refilled cartridge, or they buy kits to DIY it at home. According to a USA Today article, bigger stores are looking for a piece of the inky action. Walgreens plans to launch a new refill service at 1,500 stores, and OfficeMax and Office Depot are also testing the concept. For small-time cartridge businesses, this could spell bad news. I do a lot of printing and coping and I don't buy a new cartridge any more since I met Mark, Now I have tried to refill my own also and every time I have tried to do this I wound up buying a new printer, and Mark showed me why I messed up. Vacuum is one secret and cleaning is another one and the cost of these tools prevent me from doing this and also the training involved, well it is not that simple.

Mark is a profession and after he gave me a tour of his shop I understand why these cartridges are so high, it is not the price of the ink but the cost of the equipment and knowledge used to do it properly.

I do not think the big stores will invest the time and money to train their employees well enough to refill my cartridges, my printer cost to much to trust just anyone with my machine.

I met Mark for the first time early in the morning, he had just opened for business. He invited me to pray with his employees and he blessed the coming day.  I wish every business would do that. GOD BLESS you Mark.

1. As a member of The Hickory Locator think about how you can advertise the fact that your web can be found in THL (The Hickory Locator). I see newspaper ads all the time (Members) that pay hundreds for a two inch black and white print ad and fail to mention the simple fact that all the information can be found in color on a web page.
1. Put the words find me on THL in your store window.
2. Hang a sign outside your store that says find me in THL. When that passer by gets home and relaxes at the computer to catch up with local information they might look for you.
3. I provide the search it is your job to provide the source of information.
Dear Reader:

The Hickory Locator is dedicated to small business and keeping American money as close to home as possible, You would do well by supporting a small business. My generation invented "Made in America". I am proud of the fact. As an American take the time to read this article about what you buy at Wal-Mart.

It is not that long until Christmas, Do some research on the internet, Go to Google Yahoo or MSN and type in "China / Christmas Lights" Example.

Wake up Americans.

It is time to replace fear with the facts about our nation’s role in the worldwide economy and the benefits Americans derive from global engagement. Read the whole article.
Net craft, a provider of internet security services and research, is reporting that a recent batch of phishing web sites targeting Chase Bank and eBay were hosted by state-owned Chinese Construction Bank. This apparently is the first time a bank’s servers have been used to attack another bank.

The phishing emails were sent out in mid-March offering $20 for users to fill out a survey. As part of the survey, users were asked for their account username and password, credit card number, PIN, and security number as well as their SSN and mother’s maiden name. The phishing pages were hosted on an IP address assigned to China Construction Bank, Shanghai Branch.

It’s unclear if the attack was generated by the bank itself, by one of its employees, or by someone who had compromised the bank’s servers

FYI

A national survey showed there are approximately 56 million walking trips that take place every day in the United States. Family and personal business accounts for 43 percent of these walking trips, with another 34 percent for social and recreational purposes. Fourteen percent of walking trips involve travel to school or religious activities, while only 7 percent of these trips involves commuting to work.

Well Folks

This brings me to the end of this weeks  News letter and as I sit here and review it. One might think it is a bit on the negative side, I do not intend for it to be that way.

America is in trouble, with the Chinese  trade problem and the way we spend our money  to fuel it. The Mid East war is a worry and terrorism  is a threat.

But the American dream is alive , well and very healthy.

And it will remain that way as long as we  pray.
